Supporting a finance function through a period of change requires strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness and a practical approach to problem-solving. You'll work across financial reporting, budgeting, debt management and process improvement while helping deliver meaningful change across the finance team. This is a fixed-term contract for up to 12 months, with full-time hours preferred.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage debt collection processes, monitor aged debt and support the timely recovery of outstanding balances.
  • Prepare management reports, financial analysis, budgets and rolling cash flow forecasts.
  • Support finance projects, including process improvements, system enhancements and reporting developments.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure financial transactions are recorded promptly and accurately.
  • Prepare daily invoices and oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting processes.
  • Complete bank, balance sheet and fixed asset reconciliations, ensuring financial records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and provide supporting information for external audits.
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and financial plans, working closely with budget holders and senior management.
  • Respond to finance-related queries from senior stakeholders, providing accurate and timely financial information.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of financial controls, reporting processes and operational efficiencies.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or possess significant relevant accounting experience with demonstrable senior-level capability. You'll have strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and management accounting, together with advanced Excel skills and experience using cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero or similar. You'll be confident working independently, managing competing priorities and delivering improvements within fixed timescales, while possessing excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills. Experience supporting finance transformation projects and working within healthcare, public sector or not-for-profit environments would be advantageous.
