You'll oversee the complete engineering lifecycle while driving cloud adoption, DevOps, automation and architectural improvement. Strong technical leadership and people development will be equally important.
Location
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Lead engineering teams across software development, infrastructure and cloud.
- Define and maintain secure, scalable technology architecture.
- Lead solution design and technology or supplier selection.
- Chair the Technical Design Authority.
- Oversee the full engineering lifecycle from design through to support.
- Embed Agile, CI/CD, DevOps and automated testing practices.
- Own development backlogs, roadmaps and cross-platform dependencies.
- Balance new development with technical debt and lifecycle management.
- Develop cloud and hosting strategies and oversee migrations.
- Optimise platform performance, resilience, scalability and cost.
- Embed security and operational resilience into engineering design.
- Oversee BCP and disaster recovery requirements.
- Lead, mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams within complex technology environments, together with strong expertise in solution architecture and systems development management. You'll have hands-on knowledge of Agile, CI/CD, DevOps and cloud-native engineering, alongside experience with Azure, AWS or GCP, cloud migrations and infrastructure optimisation. Strong knowledge of security, compliance and operational resilience is essential, as is experience managing backlogs, roadmaps and competing technology priorities. A Computer Science or Engineering degree, or equivalent professional experience, is expected, while cloud, Agile, ITIL, COBIT or security certifications would be advantageous.
