Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of construction projects, providing expert commercial guidance from procurement through to final account. Location
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare cost estimates, analyse tenders and advise on procurement strategies and subcontractor packages.
- Carry out value engineering and cost optimisation exercises to maximise project efficiency and profitability.
- Identify commercial risks and contribute to effective risk management throughout each project.
- Manage project budgets, monitor expenditure and report on financial performance.
- Prepare interim valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Assess, negotiate and agree contract variations and manage subcontractor accounts.
- Administer construction contracts, ensuring contractual obligations are met by all parties.
- Manage commercial claims, extensions of time and contractual matters where required.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams to support effective project delivery.
- Attend site meetings and commercial reviews, providing financial advice and commercial insight.
- Maintain accurate project records, financial documentation and commercial reporting.
- Support Project Managers with financial decision-making and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, with strong commercial awareness and a sound understanding of cost management, procurement and contract administration. You'll possess excellent numerical, analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and quantity surveying software is essential, while a degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management would be advantageous. You'll be a proactive team player with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to delivering commercially successful projects, with a desire to continue developing professionally towards senior or chartered status.
