Take ownership of a key department within a leading garden retail environment, focusing on stock, performance and team leadership. This role is suited to someone commercially minded with strong people management skills, rather than specific retail or gardening experience.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing stock levels to ensure the right products are available at the right time.
  • Analysing sales and stock data to inform ordering and commercial decisions.
  • Placing orders and managing supplier relationships.
  • Monitoring financial performance and protecting profit margins.
  • Using benchmarking and reporting tools to drive department performance.
  • Leading and managing a team to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Creating and maintaining commercial displays within the department.
  • Supporting a customer-focused culture and high standards of presentation.
  • Adapting to seasonal demands and managing workload during peak trading periods.
  • Contributing to the overall success and growth of the business.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions, alongside proven people management skills or the ability to quickly develop in this area. They do not need direct retail or gardening experience, but must be commercially aware, organised and capable of working in a fast-paced and demanding seasonal environment. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach are essential, along with the ability to manage priorities and lead a team effectively.
