This is a senior leadership role where technical compliance knowledge and commercial thinking come together. You'll act as the organisation's lead adviser on compliance and financial crime matters, guiding senior stakeholders, supporting strategic initiatives and ensuring effective regulatory frameworks are maintained. Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and oversee the Compliance function, ensuring effective regulatory compliance and financial crime risk management across the business.
  • Act as the designated Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
  • Develop, implement and maintain compliance and financial crime frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the CEO, Boards and senior management on regulatory and financial crime matters.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure appropriate changes are implemented across the organisation.
  • Oversee customer due diligence, sanctions, anti-bribery, fraud and financial crime controls.
  • Manage regulatory reporting, suspicious activity reporting and liaison with regulators and relevant authorities.
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of compliance, financial crime and governance reports for Boards and committees.
  • Develop and deliver compliance and financial crime training programmes across the business.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Compliance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Support business projects and strategic initiatives by providing compliance and regulatory guidance.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance, ethical behaviour and sound corporate governance throughout the organisation.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have significant experience leading compliance and financial crime functions within a regulated financial services environment, together with previous or current regulatory approval as a Compliance Officer, MLRO or MLCO. A recognised professional qualification in Compliance or Financial Crime is essential, alongside strong technical knowledge of regulatory requirements, AML/CFT, sanctions, fraud prevention and financial crime frameworks. You'll possess outstanding leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at Board and executive level while developing high-performing teams. Strong commercial awareness, sound judgement and a proactive approach to continuous improvement will be key to successfully leading the Compliance function and promoting a positive compliance culture across the organisation.
