This is a significant executive leadership opportunity for an experienced banking risk professional to oversee enterprise-wide risk, compliance and financial crime. You'll work closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board to strengthen governance, maintain effective risk frameworks and support sustainable business growth. The role offers considerable strategic influence alongside responsibility for leading and developing the Bank's independent Risk function.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and continually enhance the Bank's enterprise risk management framework.
  • Develop and maintain the Risk Appetite Framework, recommending appropriate risk tolerances to the Board.
  • Monitor adherence to approved risk appetite and escalate material concerns.
  • Oversee the identification, assessment and reporting of existing and emerging risks.
  • Maintain effective governance frameworks, policies and controls across the organisation.
  • Provide independent risk advice and constructive challenge to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board.
  • Chair the Executive Risk Committee and oversee senior-level risk reporting.
  • Act as a principal contact for prudential and conduct regulators on risk and control matters.
  • Oversee the Bank's compliance and financial crime frameworks.
  • Lead the independent risk contribution to ICAAP, stress testing and capital planning.
  • Support operational resilience, business continuity and the effectiveness of the Three Lines of Defence model.
  • Provide risk oversight and guidance on strategic initiatives, new products and transformation programmes.
  • Work closely with Group Risk, Compliance and Financial Crime teams to maintain consistent standards.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Risk, Compliance and Financial Crime teams.
  • Promote a strong risk culture, effective governance and continuous improvement across the business.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be an established senior banking risk professional with significant leadership experienceand extensive knowledge of enterprise risk management, prudential regulation, compliance and financial crime. You'll have proven experience developing and operating Board-approved Risk Appetite Frameworks, alongside a strong understanding of ICAAP, stress testing, capital management and the Three Lines of Defence model. Previous experience engaging with regulators, advising Boards and Executive Committees and providing independent challenge to senior stakeholders is essential. You'll bring strong commercial judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to balance business growth with prudent risk management, together with a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams. Experience within an international banking group and supporting significant transformation programmes will be particularly valuable. A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience is expected, while qualifications in risk, banking, finance, audit or compliancewould be advantageous.
