Leapfrog Jobs

This is a hands-on interim opportunity for an experienced portfolio or transformation professional to establish and run a Portfolio Office supporting three strategic initiatives. You'll take ownership of governance, reporting and day-to-day delivery while working closely with Executive Sponsors and senior stakeholders. The contract is initially for 3-months, with the potential to extend month-by-month up to 6 months.

Location

Guernsey, Channel Islands

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and run the Portfolio Office day to day using the existing framework.
  • Review how effectively the framework operates in practice and identify areas requiring improvement.
  • Rework and agree initiative plans with Executive Sponsors, including benefits, costs, resources, milestones and measures of completion.
  • Build and maintain a consolidated portfolio view covering status, milestones, risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
  • Prepare monthly portfolio packs, clearly identifying decisions and actions required.
  • Act as secretary to relevant governance meetings and ensure agreed actions are progressed to completion.
  • Run weekly working groups across the three strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor progress, identify blockages and escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
  • Provide practical project support, including requirements, supplier follow-up and preparation for acceptance.
  • Establish and monitor benefits measures with Executive Sponsors and Finance.
  • Track the resources and costs involved in operating the portfolio model.
  • Deliver familiarisation and sponsor briefings and coach an internal counterpart to take ownership.
  • Prepare quarterly Board reporting for the Managing Director.
  • Produce a final assessment of the portfolio framework, including recommended improvements and whether a permanent Portfolio Office role is required.
  • Prepare a comprehensive handover for the internal owner.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have proven experience running a Portfolio Office, PMO or Transformation Office within regulated financial services, with experience in trust, fiduciary, fund administration, or wealth management particularly welcomed. You'll have successfully established or reset governance frameworks, including steering committees, initiative business cases and benefits tracking, and importantly you'll be hands-on and comfortable personally producing reports, governance packs and practical project deliverables. You'll have the credibility to work with Directors and Boards and confidently hold senior sponsors accountable for delivery. Previous interim or fixed-term experience and a track record of successfully handing responsibility back to internal teams would be particularly valuable. Knowledge of AML, regulatory change and the GFSC environment would be advantageous, while qualifications such as PRINCE2, MSP, MoP, P3O, APM ChPP or PMI PfMP are desirable but not essential.
