This is a fantastic senior opportunity to play a key role in a major banking technology transformation programme. You'll bridge the gap between business stakeholders and engineering teams, translating complex banking requirements into scalable technical solutions across core banking, payments and digital services. It's an influential role for someone who combines deep banking knowledge with strong technical analysis expertise.
Location
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Elicit, analyse and document requirements across core banking domains.
- Translate business, product and regulatory requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications.
- Define API contracts, data models, mappings and integration flows.
- Support solution architects with technical design and architectural decisions.
- Design and support integrations across core banking, payments, digital channels, middleware and regulatory reporting systems.
- Work with Product Owners to develop epics, features, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Support Agile ceremonies and provide clarification throughout development and testing.
- Support data migration, mapping, validation and reconciliation activities.
- Define functional and integration testing scenarios and support SIT and UAT.
- Work closely with business users, engineering teams and external technology vendors.
- Challenge vendor solutions to ensure they are appropriate and fit for purpose.
- Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge transfer and operational handover to BAU teams.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have around 10-15 years' experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst within banking or financial services, together with strong hands-on experience of core banking platforms and banking products. You'll have excellent technical analysis skills, including knowledge of APIs, microservices, integrations, data models and relational databases, and be comfortable interpreting API specifications, sequence diagrams and data schemas. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and large-scale or multi-year core banking transformation programmes is important, alongside excellent stakeholder management, analytical and communication skills. Familiarity with cloud architecture such as AWS, Azure or GCP would be advantageous, as would relevant Business Analysis and Agile certifications. You'll be proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to challenge assumptions constructively while balancing detailed technical analysis with the wider business objective.
