Join a busy reception team where professionalism, empathy and organisation make a genuine difference to people's experience. You'll be the first point of contact for patients and visitors while providing essential administrative support behind the scenes. This is a temporary role running from approximately 7 September until the end of October, based on 36 hours per week.
Location
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Provide a warm, professional welcome to patients, visitors and other stakeholders.
- Answer telephone calls and manage face-to-face enquiries efficiently and sensitively.
- Book appointments and direct patients to the appropriate departments or professionals.
- Maintain accurate patient information and administrative records.
- Take and process payments accurately where required.
- Arrange taxis, ambulances and hospital transport when necessary.
- Receive deliveries and distribute them appropriately.
- Maintain a tidy and welcoming reception and waiting area.
- Ensure accurate handovers between colleagues and communicate outstanding tasks clearly.
- Respond calmly and professionally to unexpected or emergency situations in accordance with procedures.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a friendly, professional and confident communicator with excellent telephone, reception and organisational skills. Previous receptionist experience would be advantageous, alongside good Microsoft Office skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment. You'll be comfortable dealing sensitively with patients and members of the public, remain calm under pressure and use your initiative when required. A flexible approach is essential, as the team operates shifts with core coverage between 7.30am and 6pm.
