This is a senior leadership role within the finance function of a commercial organisation, offering a hands-on opportunity to shape reporting, controls and team development. The Head of Finance will oversee a team of qualified professionals and play a key role in the production of management reporting, budgeting, audit, and strategic decision support. This is an ideal position for a commercially minded finance professional with strong leadership experience.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing monthly management reporting and ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
  • Supervising all ledger maintenance and ensuring accuracy across the finance function.
  • Leading the annual budgeting, forecasting and tariff-setting process.
  • Supporting the development of profitability and performance reporting.
  • Assisting with the year-end audit process and company tax submissions.
  • Managing, mentoring and developing a team of finance officers and a commercial accountant.
  • Ensuring continuity of service, process improvement, and effective cover across the team.
  • Acting as the key point of contact for all management and financial reporting.
  • Working closely with the CFO to support decision-making across the organisation.
  • Deputising for the CFO as required and presenting to executive and board-level stakeholders.
  • Supporting financial governance for additional group entities and insurance arrangements.
  • Contributing to digital transformation and the improvement of reporting workflows.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACCA or ACA) with demonstrable post-qualification experience in a commercial environment. They will have proven leadership skills and experience managing a finance team. Strong financial reporting, budgeting and control experience is essential, along with a proactive and analytical mindset. High-level communication skills and a collaborative, results-driven approach are required. Experience with digital tools and reporting automation would be advantageous. A basic police clearance will be required for this position due to the nature of the role.
