MLRO, Fiduciary Risk & Compliance Manager
Job Ref: LF
40560
An independent fiduciary business is looking to appoint an experienced compliance professional to join their small and collaborative team in a pivotal risk and regulatory role. This is a broad and hands-on position where the successful candidate will take responsibility for the firm's risk review framework while also acting as or training into the position of MLRO. Working closely with the senior leadership team, this opportunity offers real visibility and the chance to influence and maintain the high standards of compliance the business prides itself on. This opportunity would suit an existing MLRO looking for a new challenge or an experienced compliance professional currently acting as a Nominated Officer and looking to step up. The firm is also happy to support development, so while prior experience in all duties is preferred, they are open to training a motivated candidate who may not tick every box from the outset. A full or part-time working pattern is available, and the position will be tailored to fit the level of experience of the successful candidate.
Location
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Acting as MLRO, including review, investigation, and externalisation of internal suspicion reports where appropriate.
- Preparation and presentation of quarterly MLRO and risk reports to the Board.
- Oversight of the compliance monitoring programme and risk review process.
- Development and ongoing review of the firm's compliance policies and procedures.
- Maintenance of regulatory registers and internal controls.
- Support for staff training and regulatory awareness across the business.
- AML processes, including remediation, sanctions screening and reporting.
- Conducting periodic fiduciary and compliance file reviews.
- Playing an active role in preparation for regulatory inspections and internal audits.
- Supporting and developing internal governance and best practices.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have previous experience as an MLRO or be operating as a nominated officer with a desire to step into an MLRO role. They will have a solid understanding of Guernsey's regulatory and compliance landscape, particularly in the context of risk management, reviews and reporting. This role would suit someone who is confident in their technical ability but also open to learning, as full training will be provided where needed. A flexible approach and a willingness to take on new challenges are key, along with strong analytical skills and excellent written communication. While prior MLRO experience is preferred, the role is open to candidates with ambition to progress into that responsibility.
