This is a significant Board-level opportunity for an accomplished finance leader to help shape the future direction of a diverse Channel Islands business. You'll work closely with the CEO and Board, combining financial leadership with commercial insight to drive profitability, strengthen controls and support sustainable growth. The role offers genuine influence across strategy, investment, transformation and operational performance.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as principal financial adviser to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, management accounting, statutory reporting and Board reporting.
  • Maintain robust financial controls, policies and governance frameworks across the Group.
  • Provide commercial analysis and insight to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs covering profitability, margins, cashflow, working capital, stock and customer performance.
  • Lead pricing, margin and profitability analysis across customers, products and business units.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency and resource allocation.
  • Own cashflow forecasting and working capital management.
  • Oversee debtors, creditors, inventory, cash and capital investment.
  • Evaluate acquisitions, investments and strategic business cases.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, banks, lenders, insurers and professional advisers.
  • Lead financial risk management and support Board-level risk reporting.
  • Oversee audit, assurance and internal control activities.
  • Support technology and business transformation, including ERP optimisation, AI-enabled improvement and process redesign.
  • Lead, structure and develop the Group Finance function, including succession planning and performance management.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accountant with a minimum of 10 years' post-qualified experience, together with substantial senior finance leadership experience. You'll have strong commercial finance and working capital expertise and proven experience operating at Board level within a commercial trading business; experience within a multi-site, product-led organisation would be particularly advantageous. You'll be a calm and credible leader with excellent commercial judgement, capable of developing a high-performing Finance team while constructively influencing senior stakeholders across the wider business. Continued executive development through an IoD programme or similar would be beneficial but isn't essential. The role is based in Guernsey with Channel Islands responsibility and requires regular travel to Jersey, Alderney and the UK.
