Why Human Connection Matters More Than Ever in Recruitment

When I became Managing Director of Leapfrog back in 2008, I felt incredibly fortunate to step into a business built on strong local relationships and a genuine understanding of Guernsey’s unique employment landscape. At the time, we were a small, focused recruitment consultancy, and the world around us looked quite different. Fast forward to today and both the employment market and our business have evolved beyond recognition.

The Changing Landscape of Work in Guernsey

The past decade and a half has brought significant change to how people approach work. Technology has revolutionised the way we connect, hire, and communicate. Candidate expectations have shifted dramatically. Today’s jobseekers are looking for more than just a pay cheque, they want meaningful work, flexibility, alignment with company values, and the chance to grow over the long term.

Employers, in turn, must offer more than just a role. At Leapfrog, we’ve always believed in listening to our clients and responding to their needs. As the world of work has changed, so have we. If I take a moment to reflect on where we were even five years ago, even that version of Leapfrog feels like a different business. The systems and tools we use today have completely transformed our capabilities. From automation of a number of our administrative tasks through to effective HR & Payroll software, technology has helped us to become faster, smarter and more agile. However, no matter how much technology we embrace, it will never replace the most important part of what we do, the human element.
