Join a collaborative in-house legal team where you'll provide practical, commercially focused advice across a wide range of business matters. You'll act as a key legal contact for local boards, support Group-wide projects and oversee more junior legal resources while helping manage legal risk across the organisation. This is a varied senior role with significant stakeholder exposure.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as the primary legal adviser to local boards on legal, fiduciary, regulatory and governance matters.
  • Provide practical legal advice to senior management and business teams across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Review contracts and support commercial and strategic business matters.
  • Manage legal risk relating to complaints, PI notifications, claims, litigation and regulatory matters.
  • Prepare legal reports and contribute to Board and committee papers.
  • Identify and escalate material legal risks appropriately.
  • Manage external counsel relationships, appointments and legal spend.
  • Support Group-wide and cross-jurisdictional legal projects.
  • Supervise junior legal colleagues, allocate work and review legal outputs.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Risk, Finance, Operations and client-facing teams.
  • Support legal operations, including matter intake, allocation, deadline and contract management.
  • Help maintain consistent legal standards, templates and approaches across the business.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer with at least 4 years' PQE, ideally qualified in Guernsey, Jersey, England & Wales or another common law jurisdiction. You'll have strong technical, drafting and analytical skills, together with the commercial judgement to provide practical, risk-based legal advice to boards and senior stakeholders. Experience within fiduciary, trust and corporate services, financial services, regulatory, contentious, commercial or in-house legal work would be advantageous. You'll be confident managing multiple complex matters, supervising junior legal colleagues and making sound decisions around escalation, privilege and the use of external counsel, with a collaborative approach to working across different jurisdictions and business functions.
