For a technically strong lawyer who enjoys drafting, structuring and solving complex legal challenges, this role offers broad international exposure and the opportunity to work with sophisticated private clients and corporate structures. Flexibility is offered on location, with remote working arrangements available for the right candidate.
Location
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements and legal documentation.
- Advising on trust structures, succession planning, and wealth preservation matters.
- Providing guidance on South African and international tax-related issues.
- Supporting corporate restructures, asset protection, and commercial transactions.
- Assisting with contract negotiations and settlement agreements.
- Conducting legal research, due diligence, and risk analysis.
- Collaborating with internal specialists and external advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
- Supporting regulatory and compliance requirements relating to offshore structures.
- Preparing legal opinions, client communications, and technical guidance.
- Mentoring junior team members and promoting best practice in legal drafting.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience gained within commercial law, trusts, tax or private client environments. Strong drafting skills and experience advising on complex trust, tax and commercial matters are essential. Candidates with backgrounds in trust and corporate law will be particularly attractive. Additional expertise in aviation law, offshore jurisdictions or STEP qualifications would be advantageous. The successful individual will be commercially minded, detail-oriented and comfortable working within a multi-jurisdictional environment.
