Our client is seeking a capable and detail-driven Commercial Underwriter to support both new and existing business. The role offers exposure to a broad range of risks within a regulated and professional insurance setting.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Analyse and evaluate commercial insurance risks in line with underwriting principles, authority limits, and risk appetite.
- Propose, negotiate, and agree policy terms, conditions, limitations, and endorsements to achieve fair client outcomes.
- Service new and existing commercial clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory, sales quality, and internal standards.
- Review and manage an existing portfolio to meet underwriting performance, profitability, and service targets.
- Liaise with brokers, claims teams, and capacity providers to secure appropriate cover and timely policy placement.
- Maintain effective working relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of short-term projects and underwriting initiatives as agreed with management.
- Act as a technical escalation point for more complex risks, supporting and guiding colleagues as required.
- Maintain and develop technical knowledge to ensure professional, efficient, and compliant service delivery.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience in a commercial underwriting role and a solid understanding of the general insurance market. Strong interpersonal skills, sound underwriting judgement, and a professional, client-focused approach are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively and deliver consistent results within agreed authority levels.
