Tax Trainee Intake

Our client is seeking a motivated individual to join their tax team as part of the 2025 trainee intake. This role offers the opportunity to develop skills in personal, company, and trust tax compliance while studying towards a professional qualification. Working within a supportive team, the successful candidate will gain valuable exposure to client work and build a strong foundation for a career in tax.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the preparation of personal, company, and trust tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Preparing supporting schedules through the analysis of financial documentation.
  • Checking assessments, statements of account, and surcharge notices for accuracy and raising anomalies where appropriate.
  • Liaising with tax authorities regarding queries, responding promptly and efficiently.
  • Developing an understanding of the organisation's services and client base to support retention and growth.
  • Acting as an ambassador of the firm, building relationships and promoting services at every opportunity.
  • Undertaking studies towards a relevant professional qualification in line with a training agreement.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be highly PC literate with strong Microsoft 365 skills and demonstrate excellent planning, organisation, and time management abilities. Attention to detail, analytical capability, and the ability to work under pressure are essential. Applicants should be confident communicators, comfortable working both as part of a team and independently. School leavers should hold a minimum of 112 UCAS points (or equivalent), while graduates should have achieved a 2:1 degree or higher. Previous experience in accountancy, tax, or office administration would be advantageous but is not essential.
