This is a senior communications leadership role focused on strengthening international reputation and market positioning. The Communications Director will combine strategic oversight with hands-on stakeholder engagement and crisis response management!
Location
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing a communications strategy aligned to the organisation's financial services strategy and promotional mandate.
- Articulating clear, consistent and compelling promotional messages across markets and stakeholder groups.
- Managing reputational risk and leading crisis and issues communications where required.
- Engaging proactively with local, financial trade, international and commercial media.
- Providing strategic oversight and performance management of external PR and communications agencies.
- Ensuring senior spokespeople have maximum opportunity to communicate key messages across major media channels.
- Delivering media training to senior leadership and acting as a trusted communications adviser.
- Providing strategic advice on reputational risk, emerging issues and stakeholder management.
- Working closely with senior internal and external stakeholders, including government and industry bodies.
- Leading and managing the communications team, fostering accountability, performance and professional development.
- Overseeing content quality across digital, social and publication channels.
- Defining and monitoring communications KPIs and reporting performance to the Board and senior management.
- Using insight and data to refine messaging and demonstrate impact.
- Acting as a constructive member of the Senior Management Team.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have senior experience in communications, PR, journalism or corporate affairs, with a demonstrable track record of delivering strategic communications and managing reputational risk. They will ideally be a Chartered PR Practitioner and member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), or at minimum hold current membership. A strong understanding of Guernsey's financial services sector, combined with commercial and political awareness, is essential.
They will demonstrate excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for varied audiences. Strong planning, project management and digital communications capability are required, alongside high levels of integrity, professionalism and sound judgement.
