This is a fantastic key person position within a regulated financial services business, taking responsibility for both the Compliance Officer (CO) and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) functions. The role will lead on ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory frameworks, maintaining oversight of AML/CFT matters, and advising the Board on governance, policies, and controls. Our client is also open to candidates seeking part-time hours for this position.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing, reviewing, and implementing compliance policies, procedures, and monitoring programmes.
  • Advising the Board on AML/CFT and sanctions risks, and preparing quarterly compliance reports.
  • Ensuring internal systems, controls, and marketing materials meet regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring adherence to policies and procedures, and recommending improvements where required.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact with regulators and supporting preparations for regulatory visits.
  • Overseeing business risk assessments and maintaining compliance logs and trackers.
  • Delivering compliance and AML training to staff.
  • Escalating areas of concern and ensuring timely resolution of issues.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be professionally qualified in compliance, AML, or a related field, with at least 10 years' industry experience. Strong knowledge of Guernsey's regulatory framework, GFSC rules, AML legislation, and compliance best practice is essential. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills are required, alongside the ability to act with integrity and independence. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is important, with knowledge of insurance or related products desirable.
