Our client is seeking a strategic and hands-on HR leader to head up the people function across multiple high-profile retail businesses. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially focused professional with proven experience in aligning HR with operational and commercial priorities. The role will cover both strategic oversight and operational delivery, working closely with senior stakeholders and supporting teams across a multi-site environment.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Defining and implementing HR strategy to support business goals across multiple entities.
  • Managing HR budgets and aligning initiatives with commercial and operational plans.
  • Leading HR digitisation, including automation and self-service platforms.
  • Monitoring HR trends and adapting practices to meet current and future workforce needs.
  • Overseeing recruitment, employee engagement and workforce retention strategies.
  • Driving succession planning and talent development initiatives across the group.
  • Advising and supporting managers on all aspects of employee relations.
  • Designing and delivering learning and development solutions.
  • Interpreting employment legislation and ensuring consistent policy application.
  • Overseeing payroll, benefits administration, and staffing resource planning.
  • Managing and developing the HR team to deliver business-wide support.
  • Providing confidential advisory support to employees where required.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree-level HR qualification or have at least 10 years' experience at a senior HR management level. They will bring strong strategic planning capability, excellent knowledge of local employment legislation, and a practical approach to delivering both operational and cultural objectives. Proficiency with HRIS systems and advanced IT skills are essential, along with the ability to engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
