Senior Insurance Manager

Our client, a thriving company in the insurance sector is seeking to recruit a Senior Insurance Manager, for their Underwriting & Claims Department.




Hold overall responsibility for the underwriting and reporting activity, involving regular interaction with various stakeholders, taking ownership of all insurance related matters.
Manage the renewals process and report to the Board and other parties.
Present succinct underwriting summaries to the Board.
Ensure that underwriting contracts are administered and recorded accurately, and on time.
Assess risks that are received and underwrite using judgement and experience and in compliance with the firms underwriting guidelines.
Coordinate and lead Underwriting Committee and Claims and Reserving Committee.
Act as a member of the Underwriting Committee and Claims and Reserving Committee.
Design, negotiate and execute Retrocession Programme.
Administer and manage all claims related matters.
Liaise with the finance department, as well as with the modelling/actuarial team to help design and produce BCAR, ELT’s, loss scenario testing and claims analysis.
Ensure that robust processes and procedures are in place for accurate recording of data.
Manage all collateral matters in relation to inwards and outwards contracts.
Produce, manage and update premium aged debtors.
Maintain an awareness of industry developments and how this impacts the firm, making recommendations to the Board.
Actively assist in the development and ongoing training of junior members of the team.
Manage projects assigned by the General Manager.
Assist in the development of underwriting administration systems.
Carry out other tasks as might be required.

Skills / Qualifications

The candidate will hold an ACII qualification and have at least 10 years’ general insurance experience, with a track record of delivering service excellence. Previous experience within the captive insurance industry would be beneficial, as well as proven management experience. Applicants will demonstrate the ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels, displaying efficient influential skills, as well as the ability to translate business strategies into operational plans. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated team player, with excellent time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
