Our client, a leading commercial organisation, requires a Financial Accountant to start from the 24 January 2019 through to the 26 April 2019.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the accounting of portfolio of group companies from the initial transaction processing through to the preparation and filing of the year-end statutory financial statements.
Preparing monthly balance sheet reports, profit and loss accounts and cash flows to provide a detailed understanding of accounts, including the integrity of the figures, to assist in board reporting and ensure compliance with the Group Financial Controllers manual and FRS102.
Performing the monthly reviews and reconciliations to validate and understand the balances, transactions and performance of companies within portfolio including the following:
Investment income, Share sales / transfers, Intercompany balances, Partner loan debtor balances and Fixed asset additions and disposals.
Ongoing review of team processes to ensure rigorous and effective control environment is in place in accounts with the latest internal and external guidelines.
Monitoring and reporting on any breaches.
Consistently meeting the period-end closing timetable and related administration responsibilities.
Assisting in the preparation of annual consolidated Group Accounts (if applicable to portfolio).
Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders across the whole of Finance to facilitate prompt and effective resolution of issues and helping to deliver excellence in customer service.
Working as a team with the finance function to deliver an efficient, effective and timely group year-end process and audit clearance.
Providing coaching and support to other team members.
Undertaking period end management and statutory reporting. Carrying out regular entity reviews, including identifying risks that could adversely impact performance and highlight opportunities to improve results.
Liaising with business partners to address issues.
Participating in ad-hoc projects as directed by management.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant professional qualification such as CIMA, ACA or ACCA and will have previous experience of maintaining accounting records using dedicated accounting systems and financial period end processes. The applicant will also have experience with month/year end processes covering all areas of profit and loss accounts and balance sheets. The role with suit someone with a good understanding of accounting principles and conventions and practical experience of financial statements prepared under UK GAAP/FRS102. They will have strong communication skills and an intermediate level of Microsoft Excel. Any applicant with experience of accounting in a retail environment, or with Cedar Open Accounts and Hyperion HFM Systems experience will be welcomed.
