Our client, a large telecommunications company, is seeking to recruit a Senior Infrastructure Engineer who will be responsible for architecting, installing and operating hardware and software technologies hosting cloud services.

In this role, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the end to end delivery of the company’s cloud suite comprising IaaS, disaster recovery, backup, network, security and associated services. Within an evolving technology and cloud services market place, the ideal candidate will often investigate, design, deploy and automate new technologies, providing for current and future needs.

Responsibilities

Responsible for system design, administration, management and third level support of VMware vCloud, vCenter, vSphere, storage, and associated technologies, as well as Linux, Windows, SQL and other supporting technologies and VMware NSX and physical networking.
Assisting with firewalls and other security devices
Responsible for root cause resolution of complex technical issues.
Providing professional consultancy surrounding infrastructure technologies, for example cloud services on boarding.
Raising third party support cases with appropriate criticalities, managing and escalate as necessary.
Proactively contributing to continuous service improvement with ideas and suggestions.
Mentoring and guiding other team members in their specialist areas of technology.
Drafting and creating documentation for new systems, services and technologies including procedures.
Prioritising and managing their own time alongside stakeholder expectations to deliver for internal and external customers whilst balancing business as usual activity and projects.
Assisting the companies commercial team in preparation of proposals, statement of work, and supporting documents for prospects.
Presenting the company's services vision, technologies and strategy to executives, technical management and technical engineers.
Maintaining and growing relationships with staff, partners, to enhance customer value.
Liaising with customers and prospects regarding design of virtual infrastructures, networks, migration and backup/DR strategies.
Supporting all of the companies services as part of an out of hours on call rota.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years’ experience in a senior systems administration role, preferably in a service provider environment and will hold professional qualifications across multiple disciples. The candidate will have knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure and backup and replication technologies, coupled with a proven background of great customer service. The candidate will be able to communicate effectively both verbal and written and be able to resolve problems independently and successfully handle any situation. In addition to these requirement knowledge of ITIL, ISO27001 and PCI-DSS is preferred. The candidate must hold a satisfactory Basic Police Disclosure and must be aware that any convictions liked to be considered relevant to the post include dishonesty and breach of trust.
