Our client is seeking to recruit an Actuarial analyst.


Guernsey, Channel Islands


Offer support to the actuarial function and to assist the company in reaching its strategic targets.
Prepare base financial results for group, internal and regulatory audiences, including completing calculations, reviewing methods, assisting in drafting reports, and providing recommendations where appropriate.
Assist in office experience analysis and the setting of actuarial assumptions.
Provide technical support and capture data from policy databases as required.
Offer support with the identification of risks, and the provision and explanation of reports based on analyses and investigations, so that risks are appropriately managed and mitigated.
Provide technical actuarial support to internal and external customers where requested by the reporting actuary or capital actuary.
Prepare and complete calculations for determining the measurement of reserves, embedded value, solvency and capital, surplus, new business profit and company forecasts on a regular basis.
Prepare draft reports summarising and explaining the financial results; identify the reasons for deviations from previous expectations.
Assist in the review and maintenance of actuarial models, identify shortcomings for possible development, and implement changes as advised by the reporting actuary or capital actuary.
Identify sources of actual profit and/or loss experienced in the past and expected in the future.
Assist in the preparation of strategic plan results.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards and give consideration to policyholders’ reasonable expectations.
Identify key risks via analyses of financial results, profitability and claims information.
Report the results and make recommendations as required.
Offer support with explaining reports via communication whether written, verbal or presentational in order to improve sharing of knowledge.
Undertake any additional duties of a comparable nature as directed by the reporting actuary or capital actuary or the appointed actuary.

Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 years' actuarial work experience, preferably in life or group health insurance and will proven systems and IT skills, including Excel, Prophet, Word and Access. Applicants will be able to analyse financial problems in detail and to identify critical issues and will work systematically and logically with a high degree of accuracy, to identify and propose solutions where appropriate. The successful candidate will be willing to undertake relevant professional qualifications, have an awareness of business priorities and strategic plans and the ability to pick up internal processes and systems quickly. The role will suit an organised individual with proven written and verbal communication skills to people of all levels, who can work on their own initiative with limited supervision as well as in a group and plans and delivers work in a timely manner.
